Cleaning Sewage:

One of the most repugnant jobs is that of cleaning sewage. Sewage spills are the worst and can cause a lot of discomfort in terms of health issues, disgust due to unbearable smell and other things.
Health issue is a major concern when there is a sewage spill which affects people and animals as well.  Hence it is of utmost importance to disinfect the affected area as soon as possible. A lot of diseases can be spread on exposure to open sewage such as Tetanus, Hepatitis A, Giardia, leptospirosis and more. Even people involved in the clean-up process must take safety precautions to avoid falling ill when engaging in sewage cleaning process.

Instructions:

   1
First clear the area that needs to be cleaned, remove all the furniture, and other things that may come in contact with the sewage spill. Always wear protective gear like goggles to protect your eyes, rubber gloves for hands, rubber boots for the feet and a dust mask. These items are a must and will prevent you from coming in direct contact with sewage.
   2
Dispose off any items which are partly or fully contaminated by the spill.  Some items such as carpets and rugs may be cleaned by various methods to avoid further contamination. You can do away with other affected items which you are not sure of keeping such items can cause unnecessary contamination in the future.
   3
Get rid of the solid waste with help of a shovel and put it in a double plastic trash bag. It is very important to see that it doesn’t get spilled more when you dispose the trash bag. If you have a trash bin/container then put it into it. Make sure you seal the trash bag properly.

   4
Use mild detergent + hot water solution to clean hard surfaces such a wood floorings, metal, concrete. Next, rinse the area with a gallon of water mixed with a tablespoon of bleach and let the area to dry.
   5
If there is drywall and plasterboard then remove and replace it if saturated by the sewage.  If they are partly affected by the sewage then follow the same produce as done for hard surfaces.
   6
Make sure that all furniture, appliances, sinks, showers, tubs and toilets are cleaned with bleach solution. Make bleach solution by adding a tablespoon of bleach to one gallon of water.
   7
And the last step is to get rid of all the items used to clean the sewage spill such as brooms, mops and brushes (or you can disinfect them with bleach solution) and the last thing is to let fresh air come in through windows and doors and let the place lighten up from the excessive bad odor.

De – cluttering Hoarding!!!

Prelude:
As humans we are very sociable beings and often at times it becomes very hard for us to get our hold off people and things as well. This has to do with human psychology. We are all hoarders but sometimes it goes overboard with some people so much so that it becomes difficult to even move freely from one room to another.

Clutter problem?

You might have a lot of clutter and sometimes you may feel overwhelmed by the very look of it. Clutter not only makes your home untidy and unpleasant to look at, but it also puts the home owner in absolute misery. Living with piles of paper and junk alongside will leave you with little energy and highly de-motivated and in the long run would result in more clutter to be accumulated.

What can be classified as clutter?

·        Items retained even after expiry
·        Old clothes
·        Overfilled drawers (both papers and clothes)
·        Things you don’t need anymore
·        Old magazines, books, newspapers etc…

Do all these things sound familiar to you? If so, then there is surely a clutter in your home and you are slowly turning into a compulsive hoarder.

Getting started
5 small steps are all you need to get started and get over with clutter:

1. Organize Yourself
Start de-cluttering by making a list. Divide the list into four.
a. Keep
b. Sell
c. Charity
d. Rubbish

Write all the things you need. Things you can sell and probably earn some cash, things you can donate to charity and finally most of the things that will end up as rubbish. Don’t forget to buy a lot of thrash bags.

2. Have a time-frame
Don’t overburden yourself by trying to clear everything at once. Take time, do it slowly. Dedicate a particular amount of time per day to sort things out. For eg: half an hour per day would be quite ample to start off with de-cluttering. One important thing to keep in mind is DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!!!!

3. One area at a time
Start with a small area. Concentrate on a shelf or a drawer or a small part of the room. Do not try to clear things out from everywhere. Concentrating on a single area will help you focused.

4. Stay Focused
At the very start you might find it boring and difficult to do, but stay focused and eventually you will get into the drive and motivated to get everything cleaned.

5. Stay in control
Remember, never allow clutter to stay on top of you, always try to mend away from it and if you are getting a new object into your house then always make room for it in advance so you know where it goes. This way everything stays organized and clean.

Remember:

After you are done de-cluttering, reward yourself. Dine with friends or go out for a movie. You have accomplished a great task and should be happy about it.

In any case, if the above really doesn’t work out then you can always try for professional cleaners. For eg: Bio Cleanse Pty Ltd, who do hoarding management.

Crime scene cleanup business - Not for everybody!

There are many reasons why some individuals shouldn't be in the crime scene cleaning business and why you require extremely tough skin to be a crime scene cleaner. Not only do you have to deal with the dead, and gore but also the family of the deceased.

I had a family stand outside a residence and they actually wanted to see what I was placing in the incineration boxes. They really needed to filter through the case of bio-danger waste to verify we didn't hurl anything. It is simply fantastic the way families can act when their dear ones passes away. Individuals stand outside of shocking crime scenes and battle over who gets what and stuff that truly don't make a difference, for example lamps.

Crime Scene

We generally sit down for a bit to bag important and personnel things for the family like money, jewelry or documents. There is an emotional switch you need to turn on and off particularly when this happens. I frequently think about the victimized people and their families throughout and after the clean-up. At the same time at the close of the day it is an amazing feeling to realize that I helped begin their mending process. That is the reason I press on to clean up crime scenes and that is the reason I feel it is rewarding.
